I’m lucky to work in a field where I can apply my expertise to so many industries, products, and people. I have had the opportunity to do User Experience work in B2C and B2B industries, working on software for consumers, small business owners, and enterprise Fortune 100s from retail to healthcare to software for protecting massive data centers. UX is UX. It can be done in any company, for any product, for any type of user. I have learned how to bridge cross-disciplinary teams to work towards a common goal and produce the best product. In the end we all really do want the same thing.
It feels like there is never a typical day for a UXer. There
are meetings to attend, whiteboards to fill, research activities
to plan, and designs to create. My days could be spent doing strategic work
that will impact and inform many project teams or tactical work
for a specific team, or both! I’m often juggling a longer-term
research project with smaller, tactical projects that keep the
teams going day-to-day. This is all while attending planning
sessions or working on team activites like patterns and peer
reviews. And that is just Monday!
I’m also the data geek on my team who loves quantitative data.
In the past several years, for multiple employers, I have
been instrumental in collecting user behavior data via web
analytics in our digital products.
I am a firm believer that quantitative and qualitative data combined
tell the best story.
When I'm not working, you might find me driving my kids around, walking one or both of my
rescue pups, volunteering
for my kids' school, cooking, baking, reading a good book, or traveling with my family.
